Trendy Dad Tips with Eric Wertz from Blue Collar Prep
We are excited to have Eric Wertz, electrician, blogger and dad, from Blue Collar Prep, featured on our Many Faces Blog. He talks about his son and some key pieces that every dad should have in his wardrobe, including an Armitron watch.
The leather jacket, just like a nice watch, is a necessity for every guy. And just like watches, there are so many styles you can find no matter what your style is. I don’t think purchasing a leather is something you should rush into – I made that mistake a few times. I actually have a few leather jackets that it’s hard to find outfits to go with. It’s kind of a bummer because I LOVE the jacket, but every time I put it on with an outfit it just doesn’t quite go. Since leather jackets can be expensive it’s good to try on as many as possible and try to find one that’s versatile. If you find the right leather you can wear it with almost any look, dressed up or casual. I think it’s one of those pieces where it’s OK to spend a little more money on (if you can afford it) because a good leather will last forever!
The Right Accessories
I really liked how the silver from this Armitron watch popped with my black leather, and the black face just brought it all together. Even though the watch is thin and sleek I felt the mesh bracelet gave it more of a masculine look, which again paired well with the leather. You know, because tough guys wear leather (LOL).
Chelsea boots are another essential piece that should be in every guy’s closet. They’re a versatile shoe that you can find in many different colors and materials. I love their clean silhouette. You get that dressed up boot look without looking too rugged. It’s definitely one of my go-to boots when trying to dress up some denim! So overall, a quality leather jacket, a pair of Chelsea boots (preferably in both black and brown), some nice fitting denim, topped off with a classic and clean watch, are definitely some menswear wardrobe must-haves!
A Dad’s Influence
My son Nate is already starting to catch on to what classic pieces a guy should own – check this little dude out in his little faux leather! He tends to like to copy what daddy wears but also likes to stay comfortable and just be a little boy. I always get tempted to want to dress him up to the nines, but just throw some joggers, kicks and a tee on him and his little personality and swagger makes any outfit seem like the coolest. I absolutely adore this kid.
